The fire danger rating system describes the consequences of a fire if one was to start. They DO NOT indicate the chance of a fire occurring.
We share the fire danger rating with you so you are aware of the conditions and can take precautions or actions to ensure you are not going to accidentally start a fire and NTFRS and other emergency services use the information to appropriately plan a response in the event a fire does start.
On an extreme or catastrophic day, a total fire ban will be in place, and you must not.
